ABOUT ABOUT

Lobby Project Opening Reception for the DC Climate Photo Contest
Join local art lovers to celebrate the newest art installation in the Lobby Project. The DC Climate Photo Contest was held Summer 2015 to strengthen the connection between climate change and daily life in the District. Climate change is already affecting residents (more frequent flooding, hotter temperatures, more severe storms), but people across the city are taking smart action to reduce their carbon footprint and prepare for extreme weather. After a photography and climate workshop with ArtReach at THE ARC in May, some excellent photographs were submitted to the contest. From a flooded Tidal Basin and kids cooling off from record temperatures to the 17th Street levy and green infrastructure to reduce stormwater runoff, these photographs capture the challenges and solutions of climate change—all through the eyes and words of District residents.
